After a night of lightening and heavy rain, I decided to take advantage of my jet lag and get up (at 6am) to tour the city on foot before it got too hot. I headed towards the Grand Palace, and kept walking along the river because nothing opens until 8! I ran into the nicest man who helped me negotiate a tuk-tuk- 40 bht to go anywhere I wanted (just over $1). My new friend drove me from temple to temple, so I saw most of banglamphu by noon! He dropped me back off at the Grand Palace (now that it was open) so I spent the rest of the afternoon slowly wandering though the palace, then making my way back to New Siam.
I booked a tour for tomorrow (I know, not usually my style..) to see the tiger temple (3 hours away) and to experience the water market...will let you know how it goes!
lots of love

so glad you made it safe, gina. i'm loving the daily updates :)
So far so good. Can't wait to read about the people you'll meet, the Islands, Bali.
You are already making friends, not surprisingly. Looking forward to an image or two. What did you find most jaw-dropping about the Grand Palace? Day tours can be much more efficient than trying to experience everything on your own.
We had thunderstorms here last night, too.
Love from the desert.
Right on! I am living vicariously as I type...love it. Looking forward to more updates...bummed you're gone for the party!
Signing up for a tour is not your style... I am sure you will find a way to "gina-ize" it somehow. Have fun!!
ditto Grandpa and Ginger... any pictures from that new camera of yours?
